Printmaking workshop

Artist printmaker  Susie Turner set up a temporary print studio in the Reading Room for the afternoon of Sunday May 22nd.  Taking inspiration from some of the objects in Kate’s cabinet and the archive photographic collection, everyone learnt how to make a dry point print from their original drawing.  Scratching our drawing onto acetate we then learnt how to ink the plate up and make a print.  We also combined chine colle (torn tissue) on some of the prints, giving blocks of colour.  Using Susie’s portable press we got some really fantastic results – you can see some below, click here to see more…. Even the youngest at 6 years old made a beautiful print with hearts and flowers…
